This summer and my dogs

Batman
With our beloved Lucky passing away last March, we became the proud parents of an English Bull Dog. Felix’s new baby brother. (For those of you who don’t know Felix, he is our Bull Terrier). For all of you that have pets, you KNOW that when one little thing goes wrong, everything goes wrong! Oh, our dogs are good - healthy and all, but they have their issues - and when it rains, it pours!
First, we’ll leave out Kayla’s summer sickness until another blog. Let’s stick with the dogs…Felix gets a HUGE hematoma in his ear. No doubt from Batman biting it. So, off the doctor for him and some minor surgery. I pick him up the next day, we are not home 10 minutes and it is back to the vets because he has managed to get the bandaging off, scratch and there is blood all over! Now he is a conehead for two weeks!
Just as that starts to get better, we get back from Utah, and Batman starts to eat strange things! Don’t get me wrong, he has already destroyed my orange bush (but for some strange reason doesn’t touch the lemons!) - he and Felix both eat all the fruit that falls off the peach, plums, apricot and nectarine trees (pits and all) but now he has decided to eat rocks! We finally figured they tasted like the fallen fruit. So, back to the vets and another overnight stay. Better news this time, so far, no surgery - but we are watching it because he had been throwing up for a while.
THE VERY NEXT DAY - back to the vets with Felix! He is wheezing, loud and a lot. Good news is, it is not in his chest - bad news is, it is in his nasal passage. So tomorrow (Tuesday the 12th) he goes in to get scoped. We are hoping for swollen sinus’ from a bug bite or something, but we have to rule out a growth.
So, between the dogs and the kid, the medical bills this summer have begun to pile up. Now I know I shouldn’t complain, we are very lucky compared to others - but hey…my life, I wasn’t expecting it - it is a pain!
